During her lifetime, Frida Kahlowas better known as the wife ofthe famous muralist Diego Riverathan as an artist.Althoughshe had a circle ofadmirers, including renownedartistsandintellectualssuch asAndré Breton and Pablo Picasso, her workwas seenmainly as a local phenomenonassociated withMexicanculture and folklore.
